Fish identifier for iPhone

Know what fish it is.

Point your camera at a fish — caught, in a tank, or at the market. FishLens names the species and shows how confident the match is, the moment you snap.

① The species

One photo tells you what it is.

Every photo returns a named species with a clear confidence reading, not a vague guess. See the closest match, how sure FishLens is, and the key features that point to it.

② The match

The right species, confirmed.

Look-alikes are everywhere underwater. FishLens reads the body shape, fins, and markings to match the most likely species, with a confidence indicator — confirm it, or pick another candidate if it looks off.

  • Frame the whole fish — body, fins, and tail all help the match.
  • A confidence ring shows how sure the match is.
  • Not quite right? Choose another candidate in a tap.

③ The life list

Your life list, growing.

Save every fish you identify into a personal life list on your device. Sort, filter, and watch your field guide fill in species by species as you log them.

FAQ

Good questions, straight answers.

How accurate are the identifications?

Each result comes with a confidence reading, so you can see how sure the match is. FishLens is a reference and learning aid — for safety-critical decisions, confirm with a qualified specialist.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Your life list, identification history, and preferences are primarily stored on your device. Optional Sign in with Apple and server-backed family features use an account. We use limited PostHog product analytics and AppsFlyer install attribution without IDFA or cross-app advertising tracking.

What happens to the photos I take?

When online recognition is enabled, a photo you take is sent securely to the recognition service to identify the species. It is not retained after processing, shared, or used for advertising.

Is anything free?

Yes — the naturalist guides are free to read, in the app and on this site. Unlimited identification and full species profiles are part of FishLens Pro.

How do I cancel?

Cancel anytime in your App Store account settings. There's no free trial and no lock-in — the subscription simply stops renewing.

Which devices are supported?

FishLens is an iPhone app. Live Activities appear on iPhones with the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen.
